Burn Magazine was born in 2008 out of the didactic vision and practices of
Magnum photographer
David Alan Harvey. Harvey continues to be the main force behind this magazine as its curator and main editor.
What the photo-essays in Burn have in common is the photographers' long-term engagement with the subject and personal intent. Though the magazine is mainly dedicated to classic documentary and reportage photography, boundaries with other approaches like art, journalism or student-work are often crossed.
The contributing photographers are of many nationalities and range from young students to icons.
Extra information: 5-10 new essays are published each month.
Burn magazine hosts the yearly $15.000
Emerging Photographers Fund, awarded by the
Magnum Foundation and a jury of internationally renowned documentary photographers and editors.
