City Archives Amsterdam / Stadsarchief Amsterdam is Amsterdam’s historical documentation centre. It has a historical and topographical archive of 35 kilometres long, which includes millions of maps, drawings, prints, books and a considerable collection of audio, photographic and film material.
As of 1971 the Stadsarchief, together with
Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, provides documentary photography assignments to let photographers show their view on the city of Amsterdam. This has lead to a rich collection of contemporary documentary photography, which can be viewed online
here . Every year, photographers can send in their works
