La Criée is a centre for contemporary art in the city of Rennes, Brittany. The centre supports creative activity by hosting contemporary exhibitions and organising an educational program.

For its program ‘Art at the centre’, artists and curators from the region are invited to propose an exhibition four or five times a year.

‘On continental shores’ is an exchange program with other European countries. It comprises artist residencies and exhibitions. Other international partnerships are also possible, with contemporary art institutions or community associations.

‘Looking to the future’ is a platform for intellectual stimulation of artists and researchers. It is divided in three modules: 1) The organisation of seminars and colloquia 2) Exchanges between the art centre, art schools and universities: two-person lectures, contributions to publications, creation of a curatorial project with the students from the Rennes School of Art. 3) The Art and Social Bonding Research Hub bringing together artists, researchers, local government agents and social workers to examine the relevance and limitations of art projects that address social issues.

The centre also houses a documentation centre.
