Pour Que l'Esprit Vive association was founded in 1932 to assist artists in realising and preserving their work, but also to raise awareness about social problems and to contribute to social change through art and culture.

Nowadays, its main activity is maintaining sophot.com and a gallery called Fait & Cause (Fight for a cause). Both are dedicated to social-environmental photography.
