The
Roland Barthes Prize is an award for photographic research. The €5,000 prize is awarded every two years and rewards essays on photography on a MA level, in any genre. Next to the scientific interest or importance, the quality of writing and the originality of the approach to the subject are important criteria.
The prize works with an open call for applications. Winners are asked to give two lectures on their theme in France in the six months following the award ceremony. Go the website for details. In French only.
