Robert Delpire has his own publishing company for art and photography books. He has been in various professions, ranging from director of a magazine, graphic designer, gallery owner, creative director in advertising and film producer.
Delpire regularly works for museums in France and abroad. In 1980, together with the
ICP / International Center of Photography in New York, he organised a major retrospective of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s work, which travelled for several years to major museums worldwide. In 1982, Delpire accepted the chairmanship of the ICP. He resigned in 1996 to become head of the Delpire publishing house. Today he is the director of
Fait & Cause gallery, which specialises in social issues. A retrospective of Delpire’s career was presented in 2009 during
Les Rencontres d’Arles Photographie festival.
