The
Ryerson School of Image Arts is part of the Ryerson University. This division dedicated to film, photography and new media has a four-year course in photography where students learn all about technology, theories of representation, critiques and formulating and producing a final project.
The Ryerson University also offers a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media, bringing together the traditions of documentary film and photography with emerging new media approaches to create a unique interdisciplinary program.
While the MFA is centred on production – drawing on Ryerson's tradition of applied education and strong industry and alumni links in film, photography and new media – the curriculum also provides for an understanding of the historical and contemporary theoretical framework that surrounds the ongoing development of documentary practices.
