The LUMA Foundation (Fondation LUMA) is a non-profit organisation supporting independent artists and pioneers working in the field of art and photography, publishing, documentaries and multimedia productions. The foundation specialises in projects combining environment issues, education and culture in the broadest sense. LUMA also offers exhibitions and artist residencies.
The premises, designed by American architect Frank Gehry, house an International Centre of Photography and images created by LUMA Foundation, the headquarters of
Les Rencontres d’Arles Photographie festival, the National School of Photography and publisher
Actes Sud. There are also cinemas, shops and a nursery.
Maja Hoffmann is the director of LUMA Foundation. She also chairs the Kunsthalle Zurich.
