Museet for Fotokunst is a national art museum and openend in 1987 as part of The International Center for Art and Culture, Brandts Klædefabrik. As a state-approved art museum specializing in photography the institution has a special obligation to Danish and International photography from World War II until today. Contemporary photography.

Brandts comprises three separate institutions:
1) Museet for Fotokunst (The Museum of Photo Art);
2) Kunsthallen Brandts (The Art Hall at Brandt’s). In its four large galleries, Kunsthallen shows changing exhibitions - mainly contemporary Danish and international art.
3) Danmarks Mediemuseum (The Danish Media Museum). The exhibitions bring special attention to media production and their function in the creation of the modern, Democratic Danish society. However, they also display the past 200 years of rapid technical development and they history of some of the big, Danish media corporations.
