The
CAMERA AUSTRIA project is dedicated to the artistic, theoretical and curatorial exploration of photography in the context of contemporary art, new media and social developments. The borders of photography are being explored and discussed in a program of exhibitions, symposia, a magazine
Camera Austria International, a range of Edition Camera Austria books and the
Camera Austria Award of the City of Graz for Contemporary Photography.
Since October 2003, Camera Austria has been continuing its programme at its new premises in Kunsthaus Graz. Apart from the activities mentioned above, Camera Austria houses a library open to the public. The library collection is comprised of exhibition catalogues, artist monographs, books on the theory and history of photography and an extensive archive of international art and photography magazines.
The exhibitions at Camera Austrria are internationally orientated and dare to be experimental.
