The
IPRN is a network that links art schools, practitioners, academic institutions, museums, galleries and archives internationally. Its mission is to improve the quality and presentation of contemporary photographic practice, as well as academic and artistic research and photography-related theory. IPRN provides a platform for international exchange leading to collaborative projects, exhibitions, publications, research, symposia, networking, shared databases and archives.
An example of one of their projects is ‘Changing Faces’: a three-year EU Culture photography commission project focussing on the theme of ‘work’.
The IPRN was originally started at the
University of Sunderland in the UK, but has now joined forces with the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland.
Some of their current activities include an EU funded project with Italy as the lead Partner and seven other European countries (SETSE). They are also developing a major three year research proposal on Migration that will include the University of Leiden (The Netherlands).
(Note: The website is currently offline. In the mean time you can get in touch with Laurie Short (
lrnceshrt@aol.co.uk) for more information about the projects etc.)
