The Maison de la Photographie (not to be mistaken for the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris) supports and takes part in local art and photography initiatives in the region of Lille. The Maison de la Photographie organises exhibitions, debates and events, as well as workshops for students and adolescents.

Maison de la Photographie also organises Transphotographiques festival. In a joint venture, it awards the Bourse de la Creation prize. Each fall an official call for entry will be announced on several platforms. The €1000 prize goes to a promising photographer who wants to become a professional. With the prize money the winner will be able to realise an exhibition at the next edition of the festival, thus creating an opportunity to show his or her work to a large audience.
