The Mois de la Photo à Paris takes place every two (even-numbered) years in November. A large number of cultural institutions and galleries in Paris contribute to this event.

Each edition is organised around a central theme and includes 70 to 80 exhibitions, a film program, discussions and other events.

Coinciding with the festival, there is an off program appropriately called Mois de la Photo / Off. Scattered throughout the city, there are about a hundred free exhibitions by emerging artists.

The Mois de la Photo à Paris is part of the European Month of Photography, which was initiated to build a collaborative European photography network, fostering innovative dialogue.

The festival is organised by the Maison Européenne de la Photographie.
