The Month of Photography is organised by the
foundation for visual arts and
Galeria ZPAF
The Month of Photography in Cracow hosts nearly fifty displays each year, along with workshops, seminars, lectures and moving picture shows. For the last couple of years, the Photomonth took place in May. The festival occupies dozens of venues across the city, and apart from the photography itself, the venues themselves are often worthy of interest, too. Some exhibition spaces of bars or cafes are normally hidden from the public eye, whilst others are in more extraordinary locations: in the 2006 and 2007 opening days, photos were exhibited in the deserted Okocim brewery on Lubicz Street. Also keep an eye on the off-program, appropriately titled 'OFF'.
All portfolio reviews take place in one day. Check the
website for details.
Photographers can send in their proposals for a project. Proposals should be addressed to the
Galeria ZPAF.
In 2010 the festival hosts the
Sittcomm Award, which is exclusively meant for photographers from south/eastern-European countries.
The festival is looking for volunteers to help out during the festival month. All volunteers will sign a volunteers agreement, which will enable them to carry out student practice during the preparations for the festival. If you are interested, send an email to
