The Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea is the first public museum of contemporary photography created in Italy. It was founded in 2004 and is located in Cinisello Balsamo, ten kilometres from Milan.
The collection includes 1.800.000 photographs from the Second World War up to now, by about 800 artists (both Italian and European).The Musem’s library includes 14.000 books and magazines specialized in contemporary photography. Apart from exhibitions, the museum organizes symposiums, educational programs and commissions to photographers. It promotes two prizes: the
Paolo Costantini prize for photography essays and the
Riccardo Pezza European Photography Prize for young photographers.
