The Soros Foundation is part of the Open Society Institute, a big organisation with a range of programs about the global empowerment of 'vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens’. One of the Foundation’s initiatives is the
Documentary Photography Project which 'supports photographers whose work addresses social justice and human rights issues that coincide with OSI's mission'. The Documentary Photography Project currently consists of:

Production Grants . Individual photographers as well as organizations are eligible.
