Shahidul Alam (1955, Bangladesh) is a photographer, activist and writer. Nationally and internationally he is acclaimed not only for his photographic work, but also for being very active and vocal as an educator, a judge for photographic competitions, and as a board -member or founder of a number of institutions (like Chobi Mela). Alam has been very influential in both inspiring South Asian documentary photographers and creating the means to get their work noticed abroad.
