The courses on offer at the
Universität für angewandte Kunst range from fine arts (painting, printing, sculpture, photography, ceramics) to stage design, design (fashion, graphic design, graphics and advertising, landscape design) to conservation and restoration and pedagogic studies for artistic teaching disciplines. All these disciplines are supplemented by a large number of scientific courses.
Gabriele Rothemann leads the photography department, which is set up as a research centre in the artistic area of photography. The combination of photography with other media like drawing and installations is encouraged. Theory, analogue technique as well as political issues within photography are among the subjects.
