CFP Bauer provides training in photography and visual communication. The courses were started in 1954 under the direction of Michele Provinciali, a designer who was trained at the New Bauhaus in Chicago. The courses are based on methods from the thirties by the German Bauhaus and the School of Ulm. All courses require a previous diploma or university degree.
CFP Bauer also organises the
Riccardo Pezza Photography Prize, in partnership with the
Museum of Contemporary Photography (Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea).,
Al.B.Um and the
Triennale di Milano. The Prize was instituted in 1995 in memory of Riccardo Pezza, a young photographer who completed his studies in photography at CFP Bauer. The Prize is open to students and recently graduated students throughout Europe (see the website for the criteria). The theme of the work, linked to the thematic choices made by Riccardo Pezza in his formative years, is ‘Narrating a place’. As part of a reflection on contemporary places, the work can freely express the relationship between reality and representation.
