Antoinette de Jong en Robert Knoth berichten met achtergrondverhalen reportages al twee decennia uit tal van conflictgebieden voor allerlei media waaronder VPRO, NRC Handelsblad, Standaard, BBC-World Service en New York Times Magazine. In recente jaren heeft in hun werk een verschuiving plaatsgevonden naar een meer autonome, eigentijdse benadering met een focus op langetermijndocumentaires. In hun zeer persoonlijke aanpak beoogt het duo de gelaagde complexiteit van verschillende sociaal economische of politieke onderwerpen te tonen en de effecten daarvan op het leven van de ‘kleine’ individuen. In dat proces zoeken De Jong en Knoth naar manieren om het hyperrealisme van documentair te versmelten met de abstracte kwaliteiten van kunst en literatuur.
Internationale erkenning voor hun werk omvatte onder meer twee prijzen bij de World Press en een PDN award in de US, verschillende Zilveren Cameraprijzen, de Prague Photo Prize van de Tsjechische Republiek, the Luchetta Award in Italië en een CHIPP Award bij het Chinese International Photo Festival of Ping Yao. Meer recent waren De Jong en Knoth met werk uit Poppy finalist bij het New York Photo Festival en wonnen ze de Canon Prijs bij de Zilveren Camera voor innovatieve fotojournalistiek. Ook kregen ze een Gold Deutscher Fotobuchpreis, een eervolle vermelding bij de Lens Culture International Exposure Awards en werden ze genomineerd voor de Kees Schererprijs.
Hun werk is op vele plaatsen geëxposeerd, o.a. in: Moscow House of Photography, Oxo Gallery in London, de Kunsthal Rotterdam, Center of Contemporary Art in Kiev, Ping Yao International Photo Festival, Place Des Arts Montreal, United Nations New York, Piramal Gallery Mumbai en het Australian Center for Photography in Sydney.

Having gained recognition for their freelance work in some of the world's main conflicts areas, in recent years Robert Knoth and Antoinette de Jong’s work has seen a shift towards a more autonomous and contemporary approach with a focus on longer term documentaries. In their highly personal work they aim to show the layered complexity of various social, economic or political issues and the effects they have on the lives of ordinary people.
Awards include Canon Prize at Silver Camera Awards, World Press Photo (2x), Deutscher Fotobuchpreis, Lens Culture International Exposure Awards, Dutch Silver Camera Awards (5x) New York Photo Awards (finalist), CHIPP Awards, Kees Scherer Award (finalist), PDN Award, Premio Miran Hrovatin Awar and the Photo Prize Prague.

Poppy: Trail of Afghan Heroin has been exhibited at Nederlands Fotomuseum in Roterdam, Humanity House The Hague and will travel to the Museum of Modern Art in Luxembourg and the Australian Center for Photography.
